Dear LHA Members,
LHA is pleased to announce that the Corps of Engineers ban on irrigation has been suspended. We have been working with our elected officials both in SC and GA to create enough of a rebuttal against the ban to convince the Corps South Atlantic Office to relook at the issue. They have listened and as stated in their news release there will now be ample time for public meetings and comments to provide additional information. We will keep you in the loop on our next step and the announcement of the input period.
We appreciate all the input we have received from our members and also the effort put forth by our area officials and their office staffs; SC Senator Kevin Bryant, GA Representative Alan Powell, GA Representative Doug Collins, Harry Shelley of Friends of the Savannah River Basin and US Congressman Jeff Duncan.
