Sen. Bryant appointed to workforce board
The South Carolina Senate President Pro Tempore has announced the appointment of Sen. Kevin Bryant, R-Anderson, to the State Workforce Development Board (SWDB).
Bryant, who manages Bryant Pharmacy & Supply in Anderson with his father and brothers, has served in the S.C. Senate since 2004. He currently serves as chairman of the General Committee and is a member of the Agriculture and Natural Resources, Corrections and Penology, Finance and the Labor, Commerce and Industry (LCI) committees. He also serves at sub-committee chairman of the LCI that oversees the Department of Employment and Workforce.
As a member of SWDB, Bryant will help provide direction to the S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce (DEW) on workforce development issues in order to create a skilled labor force that gives South Carolina a competitive advantage by ensuring that an effective workforce system exists to improve the prosperity business and lives of South Carolinians.
“We are excited to welcome Sen. Bryant to the State Workforce Development Board. We look forward to the leadership and insight that he will bring to the board,” said Cheryl Stanton, executive director of DEW. “He possesses knowledge of workforce issues as both an employer and legislator. He is well aware of the needs and issues of hiring the right people and of the needs of the state’s workforce.”
Bryant is married to his wife, Ann, and has three children.
