I have been very impressed with the reaction to my blog post on Barack Obama. I originally posted the photo without commentary to stimulate an examination of Sen. Barack Obama’s foreign policy. I remain certain that his foreign policy ideas pose a great threat to American security no less than those of Al Gore or John Kerry might have. I believe that America has avoided another terrorist attack precisely because President Bush has been office for the past 8 years. I’m convinced that an Obama presidency will plunge us back into the failed foreign policies of the Clinton administration and put us in great danger.
For example, General Colin Powell said of the enemy during the first Gulf War that, “First we’re going to cut it off, then we’re going to kill it.” On September 19, 2001, Sen. Obama said of our enemy that, “We will have to devote far more attention to the monumental task of raising the hopes and prospects of embittered children across the globe.” I am extremely disturbed by Sen. Obama’s solution for the war on terror, and hopefully, you will consider this too.
The posting, not surprisingly, only drew out the virulent and vulgar members of the liberal left whose immediate reaction to any criticism of their candidate includes charges of ignorance and bigotry. This reminds us of their criticism of those who cling to our guns and religion and strikes me only as par for the course.
I have no regrets from this picture, however, I’m sure that a further examination of Obama’s foreign (and domestic) policies must occur in order that voters might truly understand the vast, vast differences between him and Sen. John McCain. I refuse to cower to the cultural police who evermore seek to censor our political discussion. You may view the picture with this link if you wish to see what all the hubbub is all about.

Senator Bryant,
I simply want to say thank you and I wish people would pay more attention to the content of your message rather than being so simple minded to attack at the first thing they see. It is ironic how the people who accuse you or being simple minded and ignorant for this kind of post turn around and display the same ignorance they accuse you of by simply attacking instantly rather than viewing the content and discussing it. I’m reminded of the old saying “You can’t judge a book by its cover”… It seems to be very pertinent in this situation.
God bless and always stand up for what you believe in
Senator, God bless you for taking a stand against the Obama Cultists. These people have NO CLUE how bad an Obama presidency would be for our country.
there is a thing called “freedom of speech”
and a thing called “freedom of the press”
and Sen. Bryant is using both.
What’s the problem???
dear liberals,
GET OVER IT!!!!!
Thank you for bringing attention to Obama’s policies. Someone needs to, atleast the picture you posted got people talking, and those that have a brain will understand the point trying to be made. We will continue to back you.
I believe most of the people who commented on your carton are liberal Democrates. Why would they be embarrased and upset. The Democrates do things similiar to this all the time and do not receive media coverage.
After all, he and his wife are far game running for President
You are an embarrassment to our county. Please move somewhere else so that you can stop pulling our commnunity down with your short minded comments. We thought you were a Christian. You need to focus on putting God back in our schools, public places, and outlawing everything contradictory to the bible….That will give you less time to spend on “judging” other people. You are sick!!
Here is Barack Obama’s position on the 2nd Iraq War which he set forth in a speech around the time John McCain was sponsoring the Authorization for the Use of Military Force in Iraq, October of 2002. Everything he predicted has come true. 4,125 Americans have been killed. Those who actually attacked us on 9/11, Al Qaeda in Afghanistan, managed to escape from us. Over $500,000,000,000 has been spent. Here you go…
“I don’t oppose all wars. My grandfather signed up for a war the day after Pearl Harbor was bombed, fought in Patton’s army. He fought in the name of a larger freedom, part of that arsenal of democracy that triumphed over evil.
I don’t oppose all wars. After September 11, after witnessing the carnage and destruction, the dust and the tears, I supported this administration’s pledge to hunt down and root out those who would slaughter innocents in the name of intolerance, and I would willingly take up arms myself to prevent such tragedy from happening again.
I don’t oppose all wars. What I am opposed to is a dumb war. What I am opposed to is a rash war. What I am opposed to is the cynical attempt by Richard Perle and Paul Wolfowitz and other armchair, weekend warriors in this administration to shove their own ideological agendas down our throats, irrespective of the costs in lives lost and in hardships borne.
What I am opposed to is the attempt by political hacks like Karl Rove to distract us from a rise in the uninsured, a rise in the poverty rate, a drop in the median income, to distract us from corporate scandals and a stock market that has just gone through the worst month since the Great Depression.
That’s what I’m opposed to. A dumb war. A rash war. A war based not on reason but on passion, not on principle but on politics.
Now let me be clear: I suffer no illusions about Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal man. A ruthless man. A man who butchers his own people to secure his own power…. The world, and the Iraqi people, would be better off without him.
But I also know that Saddam poses no imminent and direct threat to the United States, or to his neighbors…and that in concert with the international community he can be contained until, in the way of all petty dictators, he falls away into the dustbin of history.
I know that even a successful war against Iraq will require a U.S. occupation of undetermined length, at undetermined cost, with undetermined consequences.
I know that an invasion of Iraq without a clear rationale and without strong international support will only fan the flames of the Middle East, and encourage the worst, rather than best, impulses of the Arab world, and strengthen the recruitment arm of al-Qaeda.
I am not opposed to all wars. I’m opposed to dumb wars. So for those of us who seek a more just and secure world for our children, let us send a clear message to the president.
You want a fight, President Bush? Let’s finish the fight with Bin Laden and al-Qaeda, through effective, coordinated intelligence, and a shutting down of the financial networks that support terrorism, and a homeland security program that involves more than color-coded warnings.
You want a fight, President Bush? Let’s fight to make sure that…we vigorously enforce a nonproliferation treaty, and that former enemies and current allies like Russia safeguard and ultimately eliminate their stores of nuclear material, and that nations like Pakistan and India never use the terrible weapons already in their possession, and that the arms merchants in our own country stop feeding the countless wars that rage across the globe.
You want a fight, President Bush? Let’s fight to make sure our so-called allies in the Middle East, the Saudis and the Egyptians, stop oppressing their own people, and suppressing dissent, and tolerating corruption and inequality, and mismanaging their economies so that their youth grow up without education, without prospects, without hope, the ready recruits of terrorist cells.
You want a fight, President Bush? Let’s fight to wean ourselves off Middle East oil through an energy policy that doesn’t simply serve the interests of Exxon and Mobil.
Those are the battles that we need to fight. Those are the battles that we willingly join. The battles against ignorance and intolerance. Corruption and greed. Poverty and despair.”
Let’s see if this post goes through. My post when the picture was still up didn’t go through or was removed. Could it have been that I have difficulty understanding why a deacon(Christian?) as you call yourself could be a racist? My son owns a business in Anderson,SC and another son lives in the Powdersville area. We have always voted republican. This year I changed to Independent and I’m encouraging my sons to do the same. Now that I’m retired, I plan on using my time to show Anderson voters what a fine Christian you are. I printed your webpage when you had the picture up and will be using it and asking people in Anderson, “Is this what Jesus would do to win”? I also called local Fox, channel 4(NBC), channel 7(CBS) and will be contacting the national stations who already love to report about SC being racists. When someone like an elected official, a church deacon, shows it then it seems to be a downhill battle to demonstrate to others that not all white South Carolinians are not. Fox(local) did a report on your webpage last night. Hopefully, you caught it. By the way,why did you remove the picture from your webpage since you thought it was good enough to use originally?
No problem since I printed your webpage with the picture and sending to others and also to national ABC, MSNBC, CBS, NBC.
I just mailed a donation to Bryants opponent Dr. Marshall Meadors at P O Box 1887 Anderson SC. 29622, I would vote for Dr. Meadors, but I live in Greenville County. Enough of this hatred.
click on the link if you want to see the picture btw, what does race have to do with anything?
two things:
1. you got caught exposing your racism and your 6th grade level criticism and you’re trying to deflect it. you know it’s too late and you know you will pay for this.
2. you idiot, the only substantive terrorist attach on US soil occured DURING Bush’s presidency.
Senator Bryant, are you as fake as the cherry picked responses the country is seeing on your blog. The majority of the country disagrees with you. The right wing blogs aren’t going anywhere near this. The left wing blogs are calling you a coward because their rebuttals to your blog are deleted or are not allowed. You have denied 4 responses from me so far, all in good taste and appropriately addressed. The fact that you’ll once again discard this response further proves your lack of courage to properly respond to those that question your motives.
To ProudBryantSupporter (9:17),Proud2Bamerican(9:38),Happy (9:41) and Greg((10:19),
You 4 made me grin! You are all great examples of oxymoronic (look it up before you assume) thinking OR simple ignorance. Greg: Do you have a spell-checker on your computer? To garner more or any respect for your comments, USE IT!
ProudBryantSupporter:You need to get your “vision” checked. You seem to only read or see what you want to see . You also are guilty of making sweeping generalizations! Have you read the few blogs from repeat posters that have complained that Mr. Bryant and his staff have censored many comments (mine: 3 times ,so far, and none of my censored comments have been as blunt as this one…) Do you watch Fox News and listen to Rush? I’m not assuming, I’m asking…there is a difference! If you did pay attention to those 2 outlets of “news”, you surely couldn’t come to the conclusion that, to quote you: “Obama seems to be protected by the media and liberals, it is politically correct for them to mock Christians and southerners.” Fox , Rush, Savage, etc. are given plenty of airtime to discuss and disparage Obama. I’ve read many comments from CHRISTIANS on THIS blog commenting (not mocking) on their observations of Mr. Bryants and other bloggers hypocritical comments and behavior (posting the picture). Did you read those?
Proud2Bamerican and Happy: How nice that your comments are right next to each other!
Proud2Bamerican:You too seem to only see (read) what you want to see. Have you read all of the postings? Yes, there are some that are just insulting, but there are others that are detailed, and clearly show that the author has read Mr. Bryants comments. Have you?
He uses standard fear-mongering phrases (” I remain certain that his foreign policy ideas pose a great threat to American security no less than those of Al Gore or John Kerry might have.” AND “I’m convinced that an Obama presidency will plunge us back into the failed foreign policies of the Clinton administration and put us in great danger.” ) AND empty phrases without real information (”I’m sure that a further examination of Obama’s foreign (and domestic) policies must occur in order that voters might truly understand the vast, vast differences between him and Sen. John McCain.”)
One of the few solid pieces of information he does provide: ” On September 19, 2001, Sen. Obama said of our enemy that, “We will have to devote far more attention to the monumental task of raising the hopes and prospects of embittered children across the globe.” he follows with :”I am extremely disturbed by Sen. Obama’s solution for the war on terror, and hopefully, you will consider this too.” If one reads the Obama quote with an open mind (read it in a literal sense) Obama is simply saying that if children have their hopes and prospects raised they wouldn’t be embittered… Guess what? That approach works! Educate, (”give a man a fish and he’ll eat for a day; teach a man to fish and he’ll eat for a lifetime.”) a child and provide them a means to lift themselves out of poverty and they will become a positive contributor to their community and good citizen in their society. Wow! That’s DISTURBING!! (NOT!)
Happy, now about your comments: “Senator, God bless you for taking a stand against the Obama Cultists. These people have NO CLUE how bad an Obama presidency would be for our country.”
First, CULTISTS??? Talk about insulting and fear-mongering! On what facts do you base this conclusion? Sounds like an ignorant comment to me.
How bad will Obama’s presidency be? Do you have a crystal ball? Let’s look at the current situation that requires no crystal ball:
The economy is a mess:
-Gas cost about $1.29 when Bush became president….
-There are more foreclosures now than in the last 30 years
-banks are failing (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac,too)
We are spending billions of dollars for a war we were led into with lies
-thousands of soldiers (I know several) have died
-hundreds of thousands of Iraqis (guilty and innocent bystanders) have been killed
Our Constitution has been trampled on:
-warrant-less electronic surveillance inside the United States .
-Karl Rove ignoring a subpoena
-impeachment hearings for Cheney and Bush (this is bigger than the Monica/Clinton issue (shame on Clinton-but he wasn’t found guilty….))
I hope you will open your Christian hearts and minds and listen to alternate points of view (Air America and FOX) and compare and consider both viewpoints. THEN draw your own conclusions…you might be surprised!
Dear Mr Bryant,
Your Obama/Osama picture was certainly not an attempt to shine a light on Mr. Obama’s foreign policy. Rather it is the right wing effort to tie Obama to terrorist and to show him as a muslim. Both of which are not true. You saying Obama wants to negotiate with Iran? Well do does Mr. Bush. You might want to photoshop Mr. Bush somewhere in that picture as well.
To summarize, You are an idiot and a worthless human being.
oBama…oSama…Oh…I get it it now! This is so clever!
Please…this is as clever as a cartload of monkeys.

I just want to thank you for trying to show Obama supporters the truth about this man that doesn’t stand for America in his actions or words. Keep up the good work! You definitely have my support!

——————————————–
rueconservative,
You are correct that in this country there is freedom of speech and press.
There is also something in this country called Judgment… a trait that appears to have long since passed Kevin Bryant by. If the Senator cannot muster up an educated debate against the Left, then how do you think he can properly handle the issues that are on his desk??
If you are so blind that you will support a man who has no judgement and makes all of South Carolina look stupid, than there is no hope for this country.
This is yet another sad day for the south, brought on by the actions of an elected official….
Sad, just sad.
For the people that say that if Obama is elected President, God help us. I’m praying now for God to help me under Bush. Forget it if McCain gets its. When I see you in the soup lines I will say hello.
Mr. Bryant why did u and your staff remove my blog comment. It contained nether foul language or personal attacks, simply a dialogue about Mr. Obama and his foreign policy something that you said you were hoping to stimulate on your blog. Sir, your censorship of my opinions further proves your intolerance towards opposing views.
If byrant isn’t sorry about putting the picture up, why did he take it down?
For the people who agree with bryant, how did you get the Spam protection question right, did you use your fingers and toes?
You are a lost soul and those who follow you are doomed as well. You have nothing to do with Christianity, Democracy or Humanity! You and those who agree with you are so afraid of change that you revert to animalistic instincts and can only answer with hate and violence when events outside of your myopic view don’t go like they used to in the “good ol’ days”.. Please grow up and evolve into someone that values peace and prosperity for the entire planet.
Sen. Kevin Bryant represents what is ignorant about our politics. He actually believes that by making such a political statement that he can assist the Republican Party, at least, ‘pick-pocket’ the vote of the average ignorant electorate. What he does not realize is that this
kind of thing really insults a lot of us in the Republican Party who would like to see the party
mature politically.
Mr. Bryant show us what you have accomplished for your state. Talk to us about the issues the people in your state care about and to which you dedicate your salaried time to. This, no doubt will be a little harder to accomplish.
Please, help the Republican Party earn the vote of
each electorate, not “pick-pocket” it.
You hillbilly rednecks in Anderson, Pickens, Oconee and Greenville County, living in mill houses and trailers, do you really believe the Republican party has your best interests in mind?? Where have your jobs gone???
Posting images like that does no good. An opinion is fine, and respected, but when it’s a post like this, it’s simply juvenile and irresponsible. Please do us all a favor and educate yourself better about the candidates and what they stand for.
It makes you look bad and it makes South Carolina look bad. That’s the last thing we need.
People like you are the reason we vote for democrats! We really hope our votes for democrats will start counting in SC because of your mistake! Not all Andersonians are simple-minded.
Islam does not pose a threat to the United States.
Islam does not equal terrorism.
Islam is a religion practiced by Muslims. Not all Muslims are terrorists, any more than all Christians blow up family planning clinics.
Many Muslims are currently helping us fight terrorism. Many countries the Bush Administration calls our allies in the war on terror — Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Jordan, Kuwait, even the current, U.S.-sanctioned governments in Afghanistan and Iraq — are Muslim.
Islam is not a threat to the United States. A relative handful of Fundamentalist Muslim extremists are a threat to the United States. To suggest that they are synonymous with all of Islam is ignorant, simple-minded, and bigoted.
And, for the record, although it shouldn’t need to be said: United States Senator Barack Obama is not a Muslim. He was not sworn into office with a copy of the Koran. He is a Christian who was sworn in on a copy of the Holy Bible.
If anyone tells you otherwise, he’s feeding you B.S.
Also for the record, although I stated it earlier: I am one of Kevin Bryant’s constituents. I live in Anderson, SC. And I think he owes his constituents an apology.
“I originally posted the photo without commentary to stimulate an examination of Sen. Barack Obama’s foreign policy.”
No you didn’t. You posted it as a cheap shot. You got caught doing it. Now you’re running scared, and trying desperately to prove you’re capable of debating with the grown ups, and want to reinject some substance. The problem is, we know which came first: the cheap shot before the substance. I hope people take note: when Mr Bryant has a choice to make, he goes for the low and dirty first. This blog is positive evidence of that.
South Carolina’s answer to the fetusburger
Q. How are Obama and Osama alike?
A. They both have friends who have bombed the Pentagon.
GJ Mr. Bryant. Obama’s possibly the biggest liar to ever hit politics. He doesn’t flip-flop. He holds both sides of every opinion. I’m especially disturbed that he wouldn’t visit the wounded soldiers during his overseas visit because it wasn’t going to provide him the photo op he wanted. He’s a scumbag.
Wow, I seem to recall fundy muslims getting all bent out of shape because a cartoon of their idol was published, and thinking, “wow, what a primitive bunch.”
Now I see a bunch of liberals getting all bent out of shape because a cartoon of their idol was published.
WOW! WHAT A PRIMITIVE BUNCH!
There’s a thing called freedom of speech, leftwingnuts. You might want to look into it. Just because you worship the Obamanation, doesn’t mean everyone has to.
Throwing a fit over a cartoon didn’t help the image of islam as the pretend ‘religion of peace’- and you libs throwing a hissy over one doesn’t’ do much for liberalism and all it’s phony, pretend ‘compassion’.
Billybob, that’s classy screen name or in your case most likely a real name. You call us “hillbilly rednecks”??? Did you have 2 fathers or something? If you can’t come up with an intelligent response, do us all a favor and blog somewhere else. All you Liberals need to put your emotions to bed and try to think(if you can). None of you Libs blogging here have come close to making a case for me to vote for Obamasama. You know what? We could be here for years and you NEVER will!! Oh and by the way, I live in one of those counties you mentioned and I bet my home and salary are a lot bigger than yours!
Sentor Bryant, I am a new resident to South Carolina and I would think that after the treasurers drug deals and the mayor of williamstons thievery. The last thing this state needs is to be seen as is unpatriotic. I my not agree with President Bush’s policies sir but he is still The President Of The United States. What does your message imply of the consituent of Illinios who voted for Senator Obama?
Ricky Pucheu says:
“GJ Mr. He’s a scumbag.”
Wow. Way to get it completely wrong. Obama originally planned the trip because he thought he could visit the troops without it being politicized as part of the presidential race. When the Pentagon expressed concern that it might be seen as political, Obama canceled the visit.
Why not try reading a news story occasionally, instead of just believing whatever Bill “Felafel Boy” O’Reilly tells you to believe?
It is the strangest thing to read of the political battle about Sen. McCain and Obama view. We need to think of all that as been lost especially the lives of our soldiers. If you want to talk about a lie. I have four generations military and for the first time we have advised our children to stay at home. “HOW SAD” When will we ever stop fight the wrong fights. Osama is still out there
The picture is the reason Hussein Obama will never be president. The picture was dead on to the one Hamas and other terrorist groups endorse (Hussein Obama). The NeoLibs seem to take offence when the truth is told. I will vote for you again. Obama could not even face the troops on his world election tour….but the truth is the troops demanded he not visit. Why have an un-American backstabber that talks down about the troops visit them. He will not get the support from the troops. Definitely not from this one that knows all his lies!
The photo was comical.
Keep complaining….there are virtually no crossover votes in Anderson County.
Good to know that you and your mouth-breathing slimeball hatemonger supporters think that slandering a man is funny. Love the typical rightard reactions, too. Proves your kind are ont eh way out.
By the way, also love how you silence anyone who points out hos much of a scumbag you are.
I’d like to thank you on behalf of all democrats and Barack Obama supporters for the picture you posted. I think you should not only post pictures like that, but throw in the N word and accuse michelle of being a terrorist and you should also say that John Mccain agrees with everything you say. Once again, good job and continue to help ensure that Dems take the white the house in 08.
I am posting the pic on my site because it’s true! Although had never heard of you except from a radio station tonight, I am happy that there is another who is not afraid to speak the truth(in this case, post a picture stating the truth). Liberalsism is destroying the country and it is blinding millions. To bad they are making this …or attempting to make, this another 3rd world country.
What truth is this picture supposedly speaking? That Osama Bin Laden and Barack Obama are similar because they have similar names? Should I assume that all people named Charles are serial killers because of Charles Manson? That all people named Tim are terrorists because of Timothy McVeigh? As one other comment poster noted, this is the type of behavior you would expect to see in 5th grade. This is NOT what I want to see from a U.S. Congressman, no matter what party he is from.
Further, I’m having real trouble figuring out why you are getting cheered for “telling it like it is”. Or why you are getting praised for your Christian value’s.
I’m sorry, I see so many misconceptions and victims of misinformation(or just plain refusing to get information period) reflected in the comments from some people. Obama talking down to the troops? What? Liberals attempting to make this country into a third world country? You don’t say? Liberal judges destroying our constitution? Really? An Obama presidency would destroy this country? I see that one a lot and for once I’d love to see some reasoning for it. Something, anything. History shows us that 8 years of Bush have been bad for a lot of people, nationally and internationally. Why oh why people would want to vote into office more of that nonsense is beyond me.
Senator, you really are a worthless man.
Eliot, while I disagree, let’s say you’re right. I’ll pretend that you’re correct that “Liberalsism is destroying the country and it is blinding millions” and that “they are making this …or attempting to make, this another 3rd world country”.
Ok, assuming you’re absolutely correct in your statements, how does the picture prove your theory? How does a name resemblance support the concepts you’ve presented? If you’re correct, it seems that you would have some type of evidence or at least something that would back your claim. Nate P makes a good point. You guys should seriously quit digging and let it die. Lord knows you’ve made big enough fools of yourselves as it is.
It was the Republican administration of George W Bush that let family members of Osama bin Laden and other prominent Saudi family members out of the country on a Saudi airplane a day after 9/11 — when all of the airports in this country had been shut down. Since there is no current pursuit of bin Laden by the anthrax terrorist government of the United States, let us just assume that killing 3000 Americans in the name of 666 Jesus is within the politics of the Republicans in the U.S. Senate and in the House.
All you Liberals who are so “offended” by the Senator’s picture please explain to me why you find it so “offensive” Is it just because you think so highly of the evil, lying, ignorant, arrogant, wannabe, fraud Obama?? Please explain why you think so highly of him. What has he said in his vague speeches that has all of you so sold-out to him?? He has done nothing but point out problems. He has offered absolutely NO solutions. Don’t you people know that the majority of his words are NOT his own? All the guy does is read what his speech writers have written for him. You idiots that blame our problems on the GOP are completely clueless. In case you haven’t noticed there is a Democratic majority in Congress and their approval rating is in the teens. That means that over 80% of us think they are doing a ridiculously bad job. That includes Barak Obama. What do you brainiacs have to say about that??
Americanpride, if you can’t see that for a elected U.S. Senator to visually compare a presidential nominee to Osama Bin Laden is just a sick, racist thought - you are far too out there for any kind of rational argument to bring you back to reality.
You seem like the type of guy that still has his “W” sticker on his truck. You know, your truck with the confederate flag stuck in the window.
Good luck in life.
Hey Kevin, when are you going to write about mongrel Obama and the completion of the mongrelization of America if he takes the Black House? You’re the only one who can do it. C’mon, I’m counting on you. Nobody else has the cojones to put the facts in front of America. It’s on the front page of the New York Times today so it’s ok to talk about.
