Thank you for your interest in the picure recently posted on this site. As this picture has gotten plenty of attention, I would rather change the focus of this discussion to Sen. Obama’s record on National Security. Please see the post above.

Stay classy while you’re at Christian camp. Are you going to be showing that photo to all of the campers? I’m sure it’s just the thing to bring that spirit into their lives.

[...] July 18, 2008 by notverybright Want to see the kind of people we in South Carolina keep electing to the General Assembly? The class act who would put up a blog post like this. [...]

Why did you change the title from “vacation and funny picture” to just plain “picture?”
July 19th, 2008 at 6:06 pm
it’s a joke. Also, anyone not scared to death that someone as unqualified as Obama may be the next President is stupid. He is not qualified. If he is elected, we are in big trouble. God save our country.
July 20th, 2008 at 2:17 pm
What is your definition of “experience?” Oh you mean, like W. Bush’s one term as Governor?? Yeah, that sure did give him a helluva lot of experience in matters of national security, international relations and the like - surely much more than the experience a United States Senator would get!
July 20th, 2008 at 5:27 pm
Bush was governor for 1 full term and one half term. Name one thing Barak Hussein Obama has done. What has he accomplished (besides getting elected)?
Nothing. He is an idiot. He can speak. that’s it. You all are a bunch of idiots. Vote for the fool. See where are country is in 4 years.

Aside from the fact that this is racist against millions of innocent Muslims in the world — including many who are American citizens, it shows blatant disrespect toward a duly-elected Senator of our country.
I have survived a terrorist suicide bombing and I think it is inflammatory for you to connect the possible future president of the United States with an evil man who killed many innocent victims. If some crazy person kills Barack Obama — part of the blood could well be on YOUR hands.
I will be sending a copy of this page to my local FBI office and Secret Service Offices. Expect a visit from one of them soon.
Have a great day!!

Seems like the picutre is hitting the liberals a little close to home. If the shoe fits…?
July 21st, 2008 at 3:46 pm
I agree with Senator Bryant one hundred percent! People get ready…Jesus is coming! You need to Vote for this man who is a God fearing Christian and not afraid to stand up for what he believes in…This is the reason he was voted in to the Genereal Assembly to begin with and it is where he needs to be. We need about 45 more just like him. God save us all… Keep it up Senator Bryant. My prayers and support are completely with you.
July 22nd, 2008 at 1:15 am
This is for you Barak:
“Barak Hussein Obama, thats your name!”
“Barak Hussein Obama, whats your game?
“Barak Huseein Obama, why the shame?”
“Brak Hussein Obama, say your name!”
July 22nd, 2008 at 1:18 am
What’s the difference between Osama and Jesus? Osama’s mom can admin she was a whore.
July 22nd, 2008 at 1:58 am
I’m embarassed to know that a US Senator, regardless of party affiliation, would support this kind of image. Though it may be a tiny bit clever and not really that funny… it is absolutely incorrect and promotes the kind of ignorance that keeps terrorism alive and gets us into meaningless wars. I mean honestly do you have nothing else to use against Obama but stereotyping and fear mongering. Keep up the great work Senator Bryant and grow up a little, thanks.
July 22nd, 2008 at 2:12 am
I see where you are catching some flack from Democratic legislators over this. Imagine that.
July 22nd, 2008 at 2:16 am
Considering that Obama is a Christian and Osama is a Muslim, I think there’s a bit more than B.S. that separates the two. Of course it’s easy to poke fun at a person’s name and I’m sure it’s cause for lots of yucks in middle school. However, as Christians we need to ask ourselves if this sort of antic isn’t in a way an act of bearing false witness. As I recall, we are not supposed to do such things. We must be concerned with the future of our nation, putting our faith in those who would make jokes when our fighting men and women are giving their lives overseas, when the economy is on the ropes and when our nation’s treasure and our children’s future is hanging in the balance is embarrassing at best. We should expect–no we should demand more from our elected leaders.
July 22nd, 2008 at 2:32 am
Apparently Bryant’s staff isn’t looking forward to early retirement either.

To Palmetto Conservative:
No it’s the terrorists who hit home when your conservative idiot president took his eyes off the ball. The writing is on the wall people. Just take a moment to read it. Change is coming. Good change! Those who want to know about what Obama has accomplished there’s this little patriotic thing called doing your homework when voting on any issue or for any person. By the way Jesus was a liberal.
July 22nd, 2008 at 3:33 am
I’m an Illinois resident and served 8 years in the United States Marine Corps. Maybe I should swing by Paris Island and then stop by your office while I’m down there. It is a very dumb thing to insult our US Senator–Especially when Illinois, California and Texas make up the majority of the Marine Corps and you have a basic training right there. I hope you feel real safe with the freedom we provide you! I would suggest you remove it and make a public apology. If I have to make a trip down there I’m not going to be nice.

Why is Kevin L. Bryant blue? Is he a secret Democrat? Seems he is protesting a bit much.
July 22nd, 2008 at 4:10 am
Wondering if the moderator will let this comment go through…Seems as if the liberals comments that are being blocked may hit a litte too close to home….if the shoe fits………?
Taken from the Huffington Post:
More now than ever we are reminded who is legislating and at what cost to us as a nation! A product of his own demographics Bryants perspective on state and national affairs is hindered to say the least. What effects one, affects all.
Bryant, a throwback reminding us of the deficiency in our schools and churches, albeit their own homes where these children are taught such hate and ignorance. Casting their children in 19th century mire, robbing their own children of freedom from poverty and ignorance-literally taking away their rights as human beings to evolve. An enormous sorrow and a fortunate ‘Tell’ for the basis of the poverty in this country. Exploitation from conception, horrifying to me now more than ever before, a sector of our nation is purposely purporting poverty to pull the rest of us down into squallor-where Racism and Bigotry thrive.
The difficulties we as a nation currently endure cannot be resolved myopically. Perspective is very important as we move toward diplomacy with the rest of the world. While Obamas perspective is ahead in this concept, Bryants approach seems to be “keep terrorism alive in the South”.

Captain Kevin, Thanks’ for being a true soldier of the truth. These far leftist scum of the earth people never should of been allowed here in the first place. Louise included. We are there fighting for their scum life, as we die by the thousands doing it.
Not one of has the guts to say a thing in public praising our sacrifice to making their lives humane.
Hang in there.

Only then shall you know peace.
July 22nd, 2008 at 4:40 am
So much for honest debate on the issues. As usual, another dirtbag Republican trying to win by smears and baseless allegations. And we wonder why we are in such a mess after 8 years of Rove, Bush and “swift boating”.

“You need to Vote for this man who is a God fearing Christian and not afraid to stand up for what he believes in…”
Yes, Vote for Obama.
July 22nd, 2008 at 6:24 am
And you folks from the South Carolina wonder why us folks from the northern states think you are a bunch of ignorant fools. It’s because you elect nut jobs like Bryant.
July 22nd, 2008 at 6:27 am
“Also, anyone not scared to death that someone as unqualified as Obama may be the next President is stupid.”
“Seems like the picutre is hitting the liberals a little close to home. If the shoe fits…?”
Jesus would hate these comments.
July 22nd, 2008 at 6:33 am
Nice to see that any comment “against” the posting of this picture is quickly removed by the moderator.
Good job at keeping up with the decider on censoring free speech, who needs it anyway? Ooops, maybe the 4,000 + soldiers that have died “spreading democracy” and its ideals in Iraq.
July 22nd, 2008 at 6:38 am
You’re pretty picky about comments being posted here Senator. I think you and Bin Laden have the same policies on free speech. What an amazing coincidence.
July 22nd, 2008 at 6:51 am
This picture is super offensive. You’re comparing an active US senator to a terrorist. If you don’t like Obama, then don’t like him, but there’s no reason to be racist and disrespectful. And to all you god fearing people, surely god would not condone such behavior. I would pray extra hard this week for forgiveness for having sinned.
July 22nd, 2008 at 6:55 am
Thank “God” I live in Canada. And don’t have to share a Country with people like the Former, or this Senator.

Just saying what we are all thinking.
Good Job
July 22nd, 2008 at 7:03 am
The Democrats are the most hate filled group of people I have ever seen and heard. They’ve had no problem with hate and smear tactics when it comes to President Bush. However when it comes to their candidate all bets are off. I don’t think so…
they need to get over themselves and realize everone has a right to opinions. Barack Obama should be able to endure the critism the same way Bush has.
Point of the matter is if you can’t take it, then do not dish it out!
July 22nd, 2008 at 7:20 am
Louise Says: “I will be sending a copy of this page to my local FBI office and Secret Service Offices. Expect a visit from one of them soon.”
Louise, we still do have free speech in this country, or would you rather we had a gestapo to monitor everyone’s blogs?

Get educated:
OBAMA, Barack, a Senator from Illinois; born in Honolulu, Hawaii, August 4, 1961; obtained early education in Jakarta, Indonesia, and Hawaii; continued education at Occidental College, Los Angeles, Calif.; received a B.A. in 1983 from Columbia University, New York City; worked as a community organizer in Chicago, Ill.; studied law at Harvard University, where he became the first African American president of the Harvard Law Review, and received J.D. in 1991; lecturer on constitutional law, University of Chicago; member, Illinois State senate 1997-2004; elected as a Democrat to the U.S. Senate in 2004 for term beginning January 3, 2005.

I’m relieved to see that SOMEONE has the guts to treat Obama with the same openness that we Americans have always treated our politicians. Up to now, Obama has been treated with kid gloves, but not the President of the United States. THAT is racist, imo. Everyone should get equal treatment or it is reverse racism. I’m sick and tired of feeling like I can’t speak freely about how much I dislike Obama, for fear of being called racist. I’m a life-long Democrat who will be voting for McCain this year, due to the fear I have of an Obama Presidency. We need to get serious and see beyond the rhetoric. Obama is planning change, all right, and Christians are not going to like the change he has in mind.
July 22nd, 2008 at 7:41 am
We have corporations looking out for their own profits, with only the government keeping them in check. We have elected officials in government with only the people keeping them in check. Obama sponsored the “Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act of 2006″ creating usaspending.gov and showing us some of the things our government spends money on. He also was the first candidate to release his federal tax information to the public. I’m for transparency in government so we can weed out wasteful spending!
July 22nd, 2008 at 7:43 am
How is Obama not a Christian? And how is this image a reflection of the message of Christ? It is really a sad moment for U.S. politics when an elected official can craft a no more eloquent and articulate argument against his party’s opponent than this. Obama is a candidate who for years has said our attention should be in Afghanistan (where the violence has escalated to its highest in two years), warned that the Iraq invasion would distract us from pursuing the real Al-Qaeda threat , argued for military action along the Pakistani border (which Bush later supported as well), and yet this shell of a SC State Senator can only post a bad play on words to refute Obama’s foreign policy. We should expect more from our representatives.
July 22nd, 2008 at 7:53 am
I agree with Senator Bryant. I believe Obama in the White House would be the end of the United States of America as we know it, even though our country is not now “as we know it” from the past history and laws of our country through today. I think it is interesting how the democratic candidates (present & past) are not to be ridiculed, not displayed as cartoon characters, or anything humorous or anyting that makes this “party” appear to be inadequate. However, the republican candidates (present & past) are allowed to be cartoon characters, ridiculed, laughed at, etc. and it is supposed to be acceptable. It would appear this makes Christian candidates stronger and able to “brush off” ridicule from the opposing parties. The time has come for the Christian community to stand up and be an active voice in America and discontinue being passive. Yes, I believe Jesus is coming soon. This country cannot continue to go in the direction that it is heading. Just as those in the liberal party, Republicans, Christians (political party is not important) may also share their view, regardless of its unpopularity to the vast majority. It is our time as Christians to stand strong, be a voice, enlighten the public of any information that the press keeps “hidden:. Anyone entering the political ring should expect ridicule from the press, the public, the entire realm of their political arena. Thank you Senator Bryant for being a voice in “South Carolina” to appear to still be a bible-believing, Christian-valued state. We, as Christians, still have the God-given right to think independently. Keep it up. Our prayers are with you AND your family! Everyone, please vote in November - it is imperative!
July 22nd, 2008 at 7:53 am
OK, I am a SC citizen in Florence County. I am a Christian (minister in a Southern Baptist church to be exact). This wholly offends me.
I’m sorry Senator, but Christ would have never made fun at the expense of someone’s dignity. The only ones He ever showed contempt to were those who were holier than thou and demeaning the rest of the world from their high place of authority. Senator Bryant, I ask, which place do you most represent currently in this situation?
The truth is, and I’m sorry the above commenters in some way see this as righteous, that you attacked the character of someone in which you disagree. It is sinful and deplorable. You willingly align his character to that on a man bent on the loss of innocent lives. In your wisdom, do you think this an action worthy of Christ? is this a representation of the love and grace of Christ Jesus?
I too believe in standing on my faith and standing up when needed to ensure the betterment of our nation. However, to attack someone else, even in jest, is wrong, especially when the attack cuts so deep. Obama is not, and never was, associated with Islam in any way. A simple amount of research will show that this is a lie that has been spread by those trying to hurt him. “idiot” above refers to Obama giving his full name, Barak Hussein Obama, in the hopes that a middle eastern last name might scare or ratify his opinion into others. Should McCain’s middle name be Julio, should we then think that all his policies on illegal immigration would be biased? Or if it were a Russian surname, would we think him a communist? No! However those tricked by fear use the same tactics to influence others.
I’m not an Obama supporter, I too have my issues with the candidate. However, I believe that we are to act in the service of Christ with our attitudes and our actions, and although we should point out differences that may be necessary, we should never use tactics that show immoralty on our part. Attacking the “liberals” with hate and malice is not the direction Christ would have us take.
July 22nd, 2008 at 8:05 am
This isn’t satire. The New Yorker article was also equally stupid. Obama isn’t a Muslim, he is a long time christian. That outfit is a tribal Kenyan outfit. The current administration has now had negotiations with Iran and North Korea, two countries in the Axis of Evil. Obama wants to capture Bin Laden and use the death penalty on him.
People like you Senator are the people who convince me to leave the Republican party, because of fear mongering and praying on peoples knee jerk emotions.
Good Luck!
July 22nd, 2008 at 9:08 am
The born, but separated at birth, pictures are nothing in comparison to what the liberalleftists say about us. To think they are offended is absurd. Of course, most of the offended ones, are just seminar writers.
