B. “Buck” Limehouse gave an impressive presentation Wednesday morning in a Finance sub-committee meeting. Mr. Limehouse is the new secretary of the reformed South Carolina Department of Transportation. He showed us how the SCDOT saved the taxpayer $27,582,820. You did not misread that statement. A government bureau reported to us this morning that it is actually working diligently to save you money! Much of the savings were because of Buck’s no-nonsense business approach to the multi-billion dollar agency. They’ve decreased travel, eliminated lobbyists, and improved the contract bidding process.
