ultrasound bill draws national media coverage
Monday - full media day. Pictured above is the ABC News setup in our den. The interest was on H. 3355 or the Informed Consent Act, also known as the Ultrasound Before Abortion Bill.
What seems to be getting the attention of the media is the history behind this bill’s creation. In 2005, my wife, Ann, felt compelled to assist in raising the funds to purchase an ultrasound machine for the Anderson Crisis Pregnancy Center. We then learned that a high percentage of patients that get the ultrasound choose to carry the baby to full term. After learning this, we decided to introduce S. 84 which prompted Representative Greg Delleney to introduce a version in the House and here we are. Rep. Delleney’s bill, H. 3355 received 2nd reading on Wednesday (3/21) with a vote of 91-23.
Before an abortionist can perform the procedure on a patient, they must verify the baby’s gestational age with an ultrasound, they must review the ultrasound pictures with the mother, and the mother must sign an informed consent that she has reviewed the ultrasound pictures. This language simply builds upon current abortion language in the code. I am told by those in crisis pregnancy centers that when an ultrasound is viewed, most patients (an estimated 85%) choose life.

You are doing a beautiful job of ignoring the reaons why women have abortions. This is such a stupid idea and it is a tribute to your ignorance that you would promote this course. Do you seriously think that we (wonmen) would casually undergo this process without consideration? Maybe you should excert your efforts into providing jobs, money, daycare so families are not placed in a position where they have to make such choices. All you are doing is forcing women into dark alleys and death. Your little attempt at ‘guilt trip’ is pathetic and your statistics are hopelessly deceptive and you know it. Thanks for making the southern states continue to look like a bunch of backwoods idiots. Playing to the ignorant fanatics to drum up votes for future elections, on the back of this issue is a testiment to your lack of spine. Disgusting.

Kevin,
I think this is a practical way to provide additional steps in the counseling process for crisis pregnancies. Thanks for taking a stand on tough issues.
Praying for you,
Graham

To Karen, if you don’t like the South , then why are you here? It is not a guilt trip it is truth and I guess you just don’t get it. There is always adoption to consider. Why do you hate children so much that you want to hurt them?

I just watched you on CNN and I have a question. You seemed hesitant at the question concerning wether or not rape victims should have to look at a picture. Are you stating that a human life created by a rapist is alright to murder with abortion, while a child created in consent does deserve to live?

Praise God ! It’s great we still have this mentality in the south, lets send even more women into dangerous back alley abortion clinics, or result to other dangerous methods.
Just as we send the already grown children to Iraq because its just the republican thing to do, spreading freedom dust through out the world.
We all know Jesus was a republican, no need to grandstand stupidity, and potentially dangerous laws to prove this fact.
THINK! of the repercussions, I know It’s a very difficult thing for a republican to do, but please god will you republicans start to think of the outcome of your actions before initiating these “feel good” programs.
No wonder the stigma of the south by the rest of the world that we are a bunch of bible thumping, incest laden, retards.
THINK folks THINK!

Are all christians and repulicans mentally handicapped? I count 18 sound arguments by the pro-choicers, and 2 by pro-lifers. Although I though the “Der you is an idiot” with no reasoning behind the comment was a big testement to the pro-life side. No one bothered to mention the women, (or more often little girls) who become pregnant and have to choose between a small chance of themselves and their baby dying due to the fact their body can’t sustain a pregnancy, or having an abortion. these 13 year-old girls need to be guilt tripped into killing themselves, and their babies… right?

Has anyone ever suggested that the fathers-to-be join the young women to view their future offspring. NEWSFLASH-These pregnancies don’t just ‘happen’. These sonograms all have fathers. They are rarely mentioned. A woman about to have an abortion has her reasons. What are the fathers’ reasons for just disappearing? Thanks, ANNA

im not sure why some of these posts are saying that Senator Bryant wants the exception of rape. if you read the transcript of paid attention on tv, you would have heard the Senator say that he would vote against the amendment if proposed.

First of all, you should all be ashamed of yourselves. These are people’s lives we’re debating over. Not just fetuses, but young girls and women, and men. That is the problem with America now. Everyone else is wrapped up in business that doesn’t concern them. What business is it of yours if a woman has an abortion? Worry about your own soul(or lack thereof). It is not your job to save people. That was Jesus’ job. And he failed miserably. So I think we should occupy our time and energy with solving the totally unnecessary war issue and the homeless and take care of the children that did get born. Let people make their own damn decisions. By the way, I did have an abortion. Now I’m a mother. And I keep myself occupied with plenty of other things besides other people’s issues. Get a hobby that doesn’t involve prying into people’s personal lives. No gods, no laws.
