Family Court Reform Public Hearing Oct 26 Wren HS

I currently serve on the SC Senate Judiciary Committee. For the recess, I have been appointed to a subcommittee to review our State’s Family Court system, and find much needed reform.

We will have our regional hearing for the upstate on Wednesday, October 26th at Wren High School in Anderson County.

Areas most desperate for reform:
Child Support Children receive their child support regularly when the court handles the payments and when the required parent is cooperative. Currently, it is very difficult to get the deadbeat parents to pay consistently. Reform must address this issue for our children.
Overloaded Court Our courts are overloaded with cases and hearings. What efforts can we make to reduce this load? Mandatory Pre-Marital Counseling? Mandatory Divorce Mediation before filing?

I also have a problem with the DSS in Pickens county that should be heard.
I am a father of five and the DSS is refusing a treatment plan for us as well.
Myself and my wife love our children and are more than capable of caring for them. They have lied and fooled the judges of our court system to believe there story and ignore ours . we have many good references to prove this. there are a lot of worker from DSS that don’t work there anymore for some reason or another.
I can say this if we have had good attorneys when we went in there the first time this would have never happened. our story from the start to now should be heard .
please help us. the longer our kids stay away the more damage they do for the kids. Please if you will call or we can meet.
I pray that you will at least hear our story. They should be stopped from doing what they are doing. Even the DSS’s attorney has left from there now she is doing something illegal as well as the others that have left. One of my kids have been permanently scare on his face because of the DSS’s neglect.
    Thanks if you can help——-GM

i have an issue as well. i am bipolar and am on disability. it took time to figure out what my rpoblem was. but when my ex cheated on me with my best friend, i decided to leave. he wanted to raise the kids. that was fine with me. what isnt fine is that no one took the time to find me, nor to get us both the help and support we needed, or to help figure out the support needed for the kids, and to top it all off, after 6 years, he no longer lives in Easley, but in another part of the state, i have never lived in Easley or Pickens, he since then re married and i have yet to see my kids. i do slip sometimes and forget to pay on time, but i have asked for help in this matter only to be told i must retain a attorney, when i cant afford one, no one will appoint one, and i am so tired of this. i just want to have piece and know my kids are fine and that they know i love them. i want what is best, but how can i have that knowledge when its not granted to me?

if you reply to this, please leave a name and number and i will be in contact. i will never ever give up hope for my boys or myself.

also, the judicial system in Pickens needs to be better cleaned up. When a ju8dge doesnt understand the case in front of him and dss tells me my 13 year old has been emanicpated, what the heck am i to think? i am livid on this, and i will be trying to do my best to remove this “case” as i am only kno0wn as a “number” in the scheme of the “big” wheels of pickens county, even tho i have never ever lived there. hmmm… help you say you want to give, im waiting.. my kids are too!! ;)
